Flame Retardants and Anti-Transpirants
Flame retardants available for application to your tree can
actually damage it! In many cases, it increases the speed that the
tree dries out. For a flame resistant tree, the best course of
action is to display it in a sufficient amount of water, so that it
keeps its high percentage of moisture.
Anti-transpirants that form a film on the tree when you apply
them do not benefit the tree significantly, either. It has been
shown they have little, if any, effect on the rate of evaporation of
water that occurs on the foliage surface.
